VENTURA, Calif. – The Assessor’s Office will be sending out approximately 250,000 annual value notices for secured assessments to property owners. The notices inform owners of their property’s assessed value as of January 1, 2024.
Of the 250,000 notices mailed out, approximately 207,000 are postcard notices showing the 2% increase in value in accordance with Proposition 13. Additionally, just over 6,000 notices will notify owners if their property’s Market Value is less than the Prop 13 (Base Year) Value.
Annually, the Assessor’s Office handles over 30,000 calls and is ready and available to answer questions pertaining to the assessed value. Property owners who may have questions about the annual value notice they receive are encouraged to contact Assessor staff at (805) 654-2181 or visit assessor.countyofventura.org.
Property owners who do not agree with their assessed value need to complete an Assessment Appeal Application, which is filed with the Clerk of the Assessment Appeals Board by September 16, 2024. The Assessment Appeals application can be obtained by calling (805) 654-2251 or by visiting ventura.org/cob/aab.
