CAMARILLO, CA – The Ventura County Department of Child Support Services (VCDCSS) proudly joins all 50 states in commemorating August as Child Support Awareness Month, celebrating exemplary parents and families who play a vital role in their children’s lives.

Child Support Awareness Month, observed annually, reaffirms the inherent right of every child to receive emotional and financial support from both parents. VCDCSS remains steadfastly dedicated to nurturing supportive relationships between parents and their children, encouraging co-parents to fulfill their child support obligations consistently and promptly.

“I am incredibly thrilled and grateful for the unwavering dedication of our child support professionals and their exceptional efforts in uplifting families across Ventura County,” said Marcus Mitchell, Director of the Ventura County Department of Child Support Services. “Together, we embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our community’s children, ensuring they receive the emotional and financial support they deserve.”

As part of this year’s observance, VCDCSS is thrilled to announce the Empowering Fathers Webinar Series. Recognizing the instrumental role fathers play in the development and success of their children, the department has curated a series of presentations aimed at providing fathers with the knowledge, support, and resources needed to overcome obstacles that may hinder involvement in their children’s lives. The series is comprised of four thought-provoking presentations, each focusing on a specific aspect of father involvement. Participants are welcome to attend any or all of the presentations, which will be held in English via Zoom Wednesdays in August from 6 to 7 p.m. To register please visit bit.ly/register_EmpowerFathers

In 2022, VCDCSS collected an impressive $52.7 million for families, contributing significantly to family self-sufficiency and child poverty reduction. Nationally, one in five children benefit from child support services, clearly the program has a significant reach and importance.

During this special month, VCDCSS acknowledges that every family, regardless of its shape and size, holds distinct aspirations and necessities. With unwavering dedication, VCDCSS stands committed to delivering individualized services to address each of these unique family needs. They work hand in hand with parents to safeguard and uplift the generations that hold the key to our collective future. Together—fathers, mothers, and VCDCSS alike create an environment where children receive the support they require to thrive, transforming lives through the true power of child support.
