VENTURA, Calif. – The County of Ventura and the Museum of Ventura County will be holding a series of family-friendly pop-up celebrations across the county in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Ventura County. The pop-up celebrations will be held at larger festival events and will feature community organizations that will provide opportunities for adults and children to interact and learn more about the rich history and traditions of Ventura County. These community partners will provide opportunities for residents to participate in arts and crafts activities, enjoy performances, and learn more about Ventura County’s heritage both past and present. A full calendar of events can be found at www.venturacounty150.com

“We are excited to continue to partner with the Museum of Ventura County to present opportunities for residents to join in the celebration of our county’s history,” said Dr. Sevet Johnson, County Executive Officer. “The collaboration with our presenting partners and the opportunity to feature community organizations at these pop-up celebrations offers residents a chance to enjoy the creative resources in our community and learn more about the County. Our hope is this is the embodiment of celebrating our past and present together as a countywide community.”

The Ventura County 150th Anniversary celebrations—co-presented by the County of Ventura, the Museum of Ventura County, the Economic Development Collaborative, Pacific Coast Business Times, and Ventura County Community Foundation,—aim to preserve and honor the County’s unique histories, celebrate its dynamic communities, and embrace a future filled with innovation and growth. The Ventura County 150th Anniversary celebrations commenced with a Kick-Off event on June 23 and will continue throughout the year leading up to the County’s State of the County event on November 2.

The 150th Anniversary celebration events throughout the year are made possible through the support of the following Innovation Sponsors: City of Santa Paula, City of Simi Valley, Harrison Industries, Limoneira Company, Meissner Corporation, Port of Hueneme, TOLD Corporation, Ventura County Credit Union, Ventura County Community College District, and Wood Claeyssens Foundation.

“We are delighted to welcome these remarkable sponsors on board as our ‘Innovation Level’ partners,” says Elena Brokaw, the Barbara Barnard Smith Executive Director of the Museum of Ventura County. “Together, we will create a memorable and impactful series of events that will resonate for years to come.”
